Gator Electric and Communications, Inc. was co-founded in 1992 by Alice and Bruce Riley — a woman-owned, family business built from the ground up in Lake Worth Beach, Florida. Bruce started in the electrical trade in 1980 through a technical school apprenticeship program. Alice has been the backbone of the business since day one, managing the office, the team, and the operations that keep everything running. Together, they have grown Gator Electric into one of Palm Beach County's most trusted licensed electrical contractors.

When Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida in 1992, Bruce was already running a small electrical crew — and Alice was already managing the office back home. The crew went down to South Florida and stayed for almost two and a half years, completing the rebuild of over 50 homes, one hotel, and a couple of strip malls. That experience was a real education in how to run a business — managing crews under pressure, communicating with homeowners in crisis, and delivering results when it mattered most.
After Andrew, we grew into full-scale construction across Palm Beach County — residential new wiring, commercial restaurants, country clubs, and a hotel in Miami. We worked in the cellular tower industry, the grounding industry, and became lighting and grounding specialists for cell infrastructure across the state. Every chapter added something to who we are today.
Eventually, Alice and Bruce made the decision to refocus on direct-to-consumer service — working directly with homeowners and business owners in Palm Beach County. They saw a need for more professional electricians: not just technically skilled people, but people who could communicate, show up on time, and treat customers the way they deserve to be treated. That became the mission. Alice grew the office operations, and Bruce led the field teams. Together, they built what Gator Electric is today.
